In the four years from 2013 to 2017, Chinese enterprises have made remarkable achievements in the countries along the "Belt and Road", signing a total of 93.76 billion US dollars of power project contracts, accounting for 60.5% of all overseas power project contracts.

A large scale of contracted power generation capacity

In the past four years, the total installed power generation capacity of contracted power projects by Chinese enterprises in countries along the "Belt and Road" has reached 77.09 million kilowatts, accounting for 75% of the total installed capacity of contracted overseas power projects. Among them, the contracted installed capacity in 2016 was high, reaching 24.714 million kilowatts, accounting for 87% of the installed capacity of all overseas contracted power projects in the year. Thermal power, as a sub-industry with China's export competitive advantage, is a well-deserved export main force, with a cumulative contract of 65.467 million kilowatts, accounting for 85% of the total installed power generation capacity of contracted power projects by Chinese enterprises in countries along the "Belt and Road".

The second sub-industry structure is diversified

The sub-industries of power projects contracted by Chinese enterprises in countries along the "Belt and Road" are rich in structure, including coal-fired power generation, oil-fired power generation, gas-fired power generation, hydropower, wind power, solar power generation, transmission and transformation, transmission and distribution, and biomass power generation such as waste power generation. At present, more and more countries pay attention to energy conservation and environmental protection, attach importance to structural collocation, and related wind power, solar power and other new energy projects show an upward trend, but the overall point of view is still in the initial climb stage. In the past four years, the total signed amount of $60.36 billion, accounting for 64.4% of the total amount of power projects signed by Chinese enterprises in countries along the "Belt and Road"; Followed by water and electricity 13.01 billion US dollars, accounting for 13.9%; Third, power transmission and transformation amounted to 10.94 billion US dollars, accounting for 11.7%.

The three countries are widely distributed regionally

In the past four years, Chinese companies have signed power projects in 45 countries along the Belt and Road. Among them, the top three hot countries are Pakistan, Indonesia and Bangladesh, in the three power markets, Chinese enterprises have signed a total of 33.34 billion US dollars of power projects, accounting for 35.6% of all the countries along the "Belt and Road" signed projects. Laos, Iran, the Philippines, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates ranked fourth through tenth. Overall, the total amount of contracts signed by Chinese enterprises in the top 10 hot countries reached 68.8 billion US dollars, accounting for 73% of the total contract value signed by all countries along the Belt and Road.

By region, Chinese enterprises' "going out" mainly involves Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia and North Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Mongolia and Central Asia, as well as the CIS countries.

Southeast Asian countries. Chinese enterprises signed contracts for power projects in Southeast Asian countries worth US $34.9 billion, accounting for about 37.3% of the total signed contracts for power projects in countries along the Belt and Road. In addition to Brunei and Timor-Leste, where there are few Chinese enterprises involved, the project distribution is relatively wide, and Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines and Vietnam are all traditional markets for Chinese enterprises to develop electricity, which are relatively concentrated.
