IEA: World demand for energy and electricity will continue to grow
The International Energy Agency's World Energy Outlook 2017 baseline forecast shows that the world's energy and electricity demand will continue to grow in the long term, increasing by 30% by 2040, equivalent to the current demand of another China and India.
World energy and electricity demand will grow at a slower rate than in the past, but will still grow by 30 percent by 2040, which is equivalent to adding another China and India to current demand levels, the document said.
The International Energy Agency believes China will remain the world's largest consumer of energy and electricity. But India will be the biggest driver of demand growth, with the country's share of consumption rising to 11% from 7% in 2016. In addition, Southeast Asian countries are also an important driving force for the growth of this indicator.
