The world's first ±800 kV UHV multi-terminal flexible DC transmission project has been put into production ahead of schedule

On July 31, the national key project of west-east power transmission invested by the Southern Power Grid Company - Wudongde Power Station to transmit power to Guangdong and Guangxi UHV multi-terminal DC Demonstration project (referred to as Kunliulong DC Project) realized stage production ahead of schedule.

This is the world's first ±800 kV UHV multi-terminal flexible DC transmission "highway", across Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong four provinces, a total length of 1,452 kilometers. It has continuously delivered abundant hydropower from Wudongdong Power Station, the world's seventh largest hydropower station, to the power load center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, injecting strong green momentum into the rapidly recovering Greater Bay Area.

The project was fully started in December 2018, with a total investment of 24.26 billion yuan, and it is planned to be fully completed and put into operation before the flood season in 2021. China Southern Power Grid Company has thoroughly implemented the CPC Central Committee's concept of green development and regional coordinated development, done a good job in the "six stability" work, implemented the "six guarantees" task, implemented the "two new and one heavy" construction requirements, collected the strength of the whole company to promote the construction of the project, and did everything possible to seize back the construction period delayed by the new coronavirus pneumonia epidemic.
